MSAF SUPPORTS GENDER EQUALITY

MSAF fully supports SDG5 – Gender Equality and is keen on the advancement of women and gender equality in the workplace, therefore, it is proud to be supporting three women to act in key managerial positions within the organisation over the next few months.

The women are Alesi Waqanivalu, Miriama Latianara and Nanise Rabe.

Ms Waqanivalu is acting Senior Legal, Policy and Audit Officer and also Board Secretary. Ms Waqanivalu will now take on a senior role of acting Manager Qualifications and Licensing.

Ms Rabe holds the position of Senior Shipping Officer, she will also act in the position of MQL after Ms Waqalevu.

Ms Latianara holds the position of Legal Officer and will now take up the role of Senior Legal, Policy and Audit Officer.

MSAF’s CEO Mr Simon Gravenall said it is important for MSAF staff to have inclusion and opportunities to develop internally. These roles allow further development of staff as part of our Learning and Development plan and the IMO&SPC work.

The regional strategy establishes a vision for the Pacific region supported by three key strategic pillars.

  1. Recognition of leadership and contribution of women in the maritime sector
  2. Visibility of women in the maritime sector
  3. Capacity building for women in the maritime sector.
